Technical Strategy

The FIRMS Network 'Technical Strategy' was published on the 19th August 2003. Issued by the Dstl Forensic Explosives Laboratory (FEL) on behalf of, and following full consultation with the FIRMS Network, the document formalises the strategic discussions that were held at the FIRMS Network Workshop in May 2003.

At the workshop the individual working groups of explosives, drugs and general forensics, identified their individual goals, with a view to defining the way forward for the development of IRMS within forensic science. These goals were specifically categorised into short, medium and long-term research and development objectives and these, together with prospective funding opportunities for this research, form the basis of the technical strategy.
